About SEFA:

The Sustainable Energy Finance Association (SEFA) is a Brussels-based, European Not for Profit entity established in 2021 accelerating the transition to a net zero carbon economy by advancing the development and financing of sustainable energy across Europe’s built environment.

Position Overview:

The Sustainable Energy Finance Association (SEFA) is seeking a mission-driven Project Manager to lead the coordination and delivery of a growing portfolio of EU-funded projects aimed at scaling up building renovation finance and advancing policy innovation across Europe.

This is a 12-month contract starting in September 2025, with the possibility of extension. The position is remote, with occasional travel to SEFA Brussels HQ.  

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Manage deliverables for LIFE-funded initiatives

  • Analyse National Building Renovation Plans and Social Climate Plans to extract financing and policy insights.

  • Draft and deliver policy briefs, financial factsheets, and other strategic materials.

  • Engage with stakeholders including local authorities, financial institutions, energy service companies (ESCOs), and EU policymakers.

Qualifications: 

  • University degree in engineering, finance, banking, or accounting.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing EU-funded projects (e.g. LIFE, Horizon Europe, Interreg).

  • Demonstrated expertise in energy efficiency finance and investment mechanisms.

  • In-depth understanding of relevant EU legislative frameworks, including: Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), Energy Efficiency Directive (EED), REPowerEU Plan

  • Excellent writing, presentation, and coordination skills in English (C1+); additional EU languages are an asset.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work independently under pressure.

Contract Details

  • Type: Independent Contractor (Service-based)

  • Start Date: September 2025

  • Duration: 12 months (with possible extension)

  • Location: Remote (with occasional travel to SEFA HQ in Brussels )
